A massage therapist's approach to facial tension
Hi, I'm Marta, a massage therapist and holistic facialist in Edinburgh.
I trained in massage therapy first, then earned my diploma in skincare. That order shapes how I work. I treat your face as part of the whole body (muscles, fascia, lymph and nervous system), not as skin on its own. Skincare matters, but it supports the work rather than leading it.
I specialise in buccal (intraoral) massage to help with facial tension and TMJ pain, as well as manual lymphatic drainage. Most people who come to me carry tension from stress, teeth clenching and grinding, too much screen time, or poor sleep. It shows up as jaw pain, tension headaches, tight shoulders, or skin that looks tired and puffy. Others simply want an hour to switch off properly. Both are good reasons to visit me.
Every treatment works on two levels. It eases physical tension in your face, scalp, neck and shoulders, and it calms your nervous system so your stress levels come down. That's why facial massage can help with fatigue, low mood, poor sleep, anxiety and restlessness, not just tight muscles.
I use techniques such as myofascial release, manual lymphatic drainage (Vodder Method), Ecology in Motion™ Gua Sha, facial cupping, buccal (intraoral) massage, Swedish massage and Indian head massage. And all my facials include organic, whole-plant skincare.
My practice aims to ease the nervous system, bring a sense of peace and grounding, and nourish the skin using the therapeutic healing power of plants.
When we are in rest mode, our body can start healing and repairing itself. I will help you reach that state by creating a safe space where you can relax your body and still your mind.
My wish is for you to enter a deep state of restorative relaxation and walk away feeling renewed and radiant.
My studio is in Edinburgh's West End: peaceful, welcoming, and set up so you can switch off from the moment you arrive.

About Artemisia
Artemisia Vulgaris (common name Mugwort) is a lunar herb, considered an ally for female bodies, used for digestive discomforts as well as for its effects on dreaming. Its botanical name refers to the Greek goddess Artemis. Currently, this species is also increasingly used in the production of natural cosmetics, as it has great properties for the skin, and some of the skincare products I use in my treatment room include it. This herb was a plant ally when setting up my business so it was an obvious choice to name my business after it.

How can I reschedule my appointment?
To reschedule your appointment you can contact me by phone or email.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, I require at least 48 hours notice from the time of your appointment. Please send a text message to 07305386311, email marta@artemisiaholistics.com, or use your online member’s site. If an appointment is missed, cancelled or changed without 48 hours notice, the full amount of the treatment will be forfeited. If the appointment is rescheduled or cancelled with at least 48 hours notice from the time of the appointment, the payment will transfer to the new appointment or be refunded (minus the booking fee) using the same payment method. For late arrivals, I allow a 20-minute grace period, which time will be subtracted from your session. After 20 minutes, the appointment is considered missed/cancelled, and you will be charged the full amount of the treatment. Sometimes, things happen, and I appreciate that each situation is unique, but as a small business, cancellations and rescheduled appointments affect me significantly. Therefore, I ask that you give me as much notice as possible.
How can I redeem a gift card?
1. To redeem a gift card enter the code at checkout. 2. The same Cancellation Policy applies when booking a treatment with a gift card. 3. Gift Cards are non-redeemable for cash. 4. Gift Cards can only be refunded if the original purchaser exercises their statuory right to cancel an unused Gift Card purchased online within the 14-day cooling-off period. 5. Treatment Price Increases: 5.1. Fixed Value (Treatment-Specific): When a Gift Card is purchased for a specific treatment or service, the Gift Card represents the monetary cost of that specific treatment on the date of purchase. 5.2: Price Changes: If the price of the specific named treatment or service on the Gift Card increases after the date of purchase, the Gift Card will retain its original monetary value paid for it. 5.3. Remaining Balance: The recipient will be required to pay the difference between the Gift Card's original monetary value and the new, increased price of the treatment or service at the time of the redemption. 6. Validity and Expiration. 6.1. Validity Period: Gift Cards are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. 6.2. Date Verification: the purchase date is stated on the purchase receipt and the expiry date is clearly stated on the Gift Card.
Where are you based?
Artemisia Holistics is now based at 25 Palmerston Place, EH12 5AP Edinburgh, inside the grand Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Centre on the West End. It is a very central location, only a 10min walk to Shandwick's tram stop, a 7min walk to Haymarket train station, and with nearby bus stops for services 3, 4, 25, 26, 33, 3144, and X7. Once your reservation is confirmed, you will receive directions to access the building. Artemisia Holistics started in my home on Balbirnie Place, in a quiet neighbourhood adjacent to Roseburn. I still see regular clients there. If you prefer to book an appointment at this location, please contact me directly, as I have limited availability.
Is there parking?
On-street parking is available around the neighbourhood. Please check City of Edinburgh Council website or RingGo app for charging hours and prices.
Are your products vegan?
Most of the products I use are vegan, but a few have beeswax. If you are vegan, please let me know so I can adapt your treatment.
Is your treatment room accessible?
Unfortunately it is not. My studio is located on a second floor with no elevator.
